Cousin Vinny's Resturant & Bar, a leader in community involvement hosted a 'No drinking and driving' event on september 18th in supoprt of Action Sudbury. The event included G-Rant from the New Hot 93.5, DJ Bubba, the attendance of Action Sudbury members and free transportation home to all patrons in the bar.
The event kicked off with MC G-Rant giving an opening statement followed by DJ Bubba taking requests and playing music. Action Sudbury members were on hand with their beer goggles allowing patrons in the bar to 'walk the line', mini put and play football. The idea behind the beer goggle games was to show the possible impairement one might have after having a few drinks. The participants were expected to do the activity of their choice before demonstrating the same activity with the beer goggles on. "It really makes you wonder how some people feel they can get behind the wheel of their car and drive after drinking", said Kathy Proulx a game participant.
Prizes that were donated from local organizations where given out to individuals participating in Action Sudbury's demonstrations. "Luckily we live in a very generous community that donated quite a few items. Everyone that participated in the games left with a prize." said Tylor McNair co-owner of Cousin Vinny's.
The event was successful in raising funds for Action Sudbury. Cover charge at the door raised $800 with Cousin Vinny's topping the total off to $1000.00.
Join the Revolution, Don't Drink and Drive will be an event that Cousin Vinny's holds annually in support of Action Sudbury. Look for it in September 2011!
